A 'Willful' State Bank Customer who had become 'Thoughtful' Now!!

When I started my Student A/C at SBT (State Bank of Travancore) and during the whole period it was operational (2006-2014), I had the privilege to keep it without even single paise in it as it was a zero balance account. That was the only bank account I had when I started that and till I got my first job on December 2008. So I kept that A/C even after my college completion on August 2008 and I couldn't transfer that then to a branch near my home as SBT were giving no option to transfer Student A/C.

After some time during my stay in Bangalore, for different other reasons, I wanted an SBI (State Bank of India) account and started one. I couldn't close the other SBT A/C till 2013 as I never traveled to my college town after December 2008 and I felt it was not worth to travel to there only to close this A/C.

Later on 2013, I went to my college town to attend a friend's marriage and went to close this SBT A/C as well then. It was just having Rs.21 only in it as I was not keeping any money in it then. Some small amount in it accrued with interest made up that Rs.21. And it was almost non-operational for almost 4 years by then.

Even then, the SBT manager suggested me to keep that A/C considering that is zero balance account (God only knows what gain the bank or him was having by that). My luck that, I still went on with my decision to close that instead of listening to that manager and collected my 'hard earned' Rs.21. :)

If I didn't close that SBT A/C then by listening to that manager, the current merger of all State Banks would have made me end up with two State Bank Savings accounts and I would have been forced to go to my college town now to only close that account as I can't close the second account in Bangalore (There are other bindings attached to the Bangalore State Bank of India A/C). In addition to that, by seeing the recent announcements of keeping minimum balance of Rs,5000, having charges for account operations through branch, confusions about charges for every ATM withdrawals etc., I am thanking God now that I didn't listen to that manager then to keep that SBT A/C during 2014. :)

(Revolution Wins! Now, Then and Ever...)

So, when we passed through another Easter Day, there are a lot of things our thought process may get struck to.

Christ the Messiah

When we remember about the resurrected Christ, we need to remember about the importance of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection in the social context of that time.

The Jewish community, which was struggling under the ruling of Roman empire that time saw Jesus Christ as a revolutionary leader and messiah who came to release them from the dictatorship of Caesar and respected him in that viewpoint, as Jesus Christ was a prophet with miraculous capabilities. They ushered him into the city of Jerusalem with the respect similar to that of a king by shouting of ‘Hosanna’ and waving olive branches high in the air. But, the rulers of the empire took the leaders in the community by bribe, secured a legal order to crucify Christ and planned to end it all about Christ the Messiah.

Even after that, everything happened as opposite to what the rulers of the empire planned it. Christ got resurrected on the third day and that gave the energy to the ones who believed in him. The name of the Messiah who got resurrected spread across of the world. That became a religion and belief.

Yes, that day the empire lost it, Christ the revolution won it.

Communist Revolution

That religion of Christianity then flourished and spread its roots across the world. After a long time, in Russia, which was one of the strongest roots of the Eastern Orthodox Church that time, unruly and brutal dictatorship of the emperor Nicholas Tsar was going on with the influence of some religious fundamentalists. People altogether revolted against it and that ended up in the murder of emperor and his family.

That carved the birth of Russian Communist revolution and Vladimir Lenin was accepted as their leader after that across Russia.

When people’s trust of a religion which was once formed from a revolution was lost, that catered the victory of another revolution named Communism.

Industrial Revolution

During the similar time, in the western world countries, evolved another revolution which was industrial. As an aftermath to this, in those countries, there started with a scarcity of raw materials required for industrial purpose. In search of this, they migrated to counties like India. For the easy availability of these raw materials, they established their rule in these countries and made those countries as their colonies.

They performed this colonization very easily by supplying industrial products to the people there to attract them and by getting the local rulers by distributing them with finest weaponry like guns.

Gandhian Revolution

Once colonial rulers spread and established their roots across the world, they started with some policies and taxes which started troubling the countrymen of those colonized countries a lot. People tried to raise their voice against it in multiple ways, but all their efforts were in vain.

Then came Gandhi who had his own ways of it and he called out people to take part in non-cooperative movements and himself taken up hunger strikes to counter against the unruly behaviors of the colonial rulers. Indian countrymen as a whole turned a positive face towards this peaceful way of marking their protest and the colonial rulers bend their knees upon this.

Yes, that marked the victory of another revolution. Further to that, many countries followed the same suite and earned the sweetness of independence as the history of the last part of Twentieth Century is marking it.

Revolutions will Continue… Who will be the Messiah?

The countries like India which won their independence like this are yet to recover from a lot of issues yet. Problems related to the production of food items and the scarcity of that is a major thing in that. Lack of development or being stamped as a third world country is another thing.

Even though, all the governments which ruled the independent India one after the other vowed and tried different ways to solve these issues, none of them were of that much significant and relevant as required. Green Revolution, White Revolution etc. were helpful in controlling it up to a level.

But one thing is clear. All these issues need another revolution to solve it. Yes, revolution should continue… That will only win… But, who will be the messiah who can hold the light ahead of this revolution? But, no messiah is greater than Jesus Christ.
